Let me start by saying, I am impressed by NYSC information handler, ever since the announcement of orientation camp for 10th November 2020, they been releasing graphic design of questions and answers. That is great especially knowing that NYSC has not been responsive in the past.

I also believe this will reduce fake new and like I always believed reduce blog spread them, I am always of the opinion of more forum where this answers can be retiritated and locally spread than channels with no sources. If you want to join NYSC Group

Many don't pay attention to the words they sign infact so don't see it and was signed by them.

Let us go over the NYSC Oath we all made with our fatherland, as we look at it carefully

Let us start by saying NYSC Oath is the document signed by every prospective corp members or graduate at the orientation camp in front of the chief justice of each state

Note, that is why it is called swearing in, often, we only T&C and I agree or like politicians just say the words without a reminder of this life long oath to the people and our dear nation Nigerian

In pursuance of our Aspiration to build a United, Peaceful, Prosperous, Hate-free, Egalitarian Society and a great Nation and of our motto “Service and Humility”.

I ..First name.., ..Middle name... ...Last name...
Member of the National Youth Service Corps 20..

Hereby pledge to follow at all the times the leadership of those in Authority irrespective of their social and educational background and in particular,

I shall:
(a) At all times and in all places think, act, regard myself and speak first as a Nigerian, before anything else;

(b) Be proud of the fatherland, appreciate and cherish the culture, the tradition, arts and language of the nation;

(c) Be prepared to serve honestly, faithfully and if need be, pay the supreme sacrifice for the fatherland;
my comment {what is the supreme sacrifice can this includes going to war for our nation}

(d) Be well-informed about the history, geography, economy and the resources of Nigeria;

(e) Regard fellow Nigerians as my brothers and sisters and myself as my brother’s keeper;

(f) Have a healthy attitude to work and play. I shall not only be ready to work in any part of the country to which I am deployed, but also genuinely identify myself with the problems and aspirations of the people of the area in which I work;

(g) Tackle difficulties and challenges in a disciplined and self-reliant manner, constitutionally pursuing grievances and properly channeling such for redress;

(i) Detest and shun bribery and all forms of corruption and nepotism;

(j) Be courteous and polite to all and sundry;

(k) Be obedient without being slavish;
my comment {can this include forcing corper members for INEC work}

(l) Always remember the motto and strive continuously to live up to the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps during and after my service year.

So help me God:

SWORN TO BEFORE THE CHIEF JUDGE OF ....... STATE OF NIGERIA AT THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE

Remobilization 2020

NYSC for the 2nd time for a stream, allow remobilization since about 2days ago. Let us talk a little about this remobilization, what is it about.

Remobilization
Remobilization is another form of mobilization required only from corps members who have been mobilized in a previous NYSC batch, and have been dully registered in NYSC camp, but later decamped, expelled or own their own, absconded from service.

This is entire different from revalidation

Remobilization is another chance to fully the compulsory clarion call, let us note that abscondment can make sure Corp member declared wanted by the scheme.

Conclusion

We have answered who can apply for remobilization, let us finally talk about what you need to go back to NYSC;

  1. Know your details especially if you have left for a while;i. Call-up Numberii. State code numberiii. Email you used to register

can I register
Que: If I couldn't remember any of the above details
Ans: Yes, and No.
Yes, because it is important to leave this stage and move on, it can comeback and bite if not careful can bite you.
No because you need the information from the previous registration to submit on portal.nysc.org.ng for remobilization.

NYSC may currently look like a time waster but don't let us forget, the economy, education and organisation all over the world are not heading as planned too.

To All Serving Corps:
Please ensure you enrol in atleast one of the on-going professional courses with any Certified Chartered Institute around.

As our school courses are mainly academic, these courses broaden your knowledge and understanding in the professional field especially to those that may likely work in an organization where the knowledge is a requirement and it is a plus for you to have the certification.

For those in sciences and other areas of study needs management studies, and for those in management and other areas too needs computer knowledge vice versa.

For most of us with less work experience, these courses are expected from us and will serve as a big tweak to our resumes.
As a graduate, taking three of these courses can earn you as much as nine (9) certifications which would definately differentiate you from someone who hasn't. The more courses you take, the lesser the price per course!

This is the best time to participate as you have lesswork load upon your shoulders.
Also after your service year, you may not be opportuned to have the time and all it takes to enrol.
As a Corps member, the courses are relatively cheap compared to the price of working class. Have a successful service year!

Like we started this series, because our data as Corp members matters and we must know how it is been used.

Especially since in the past it has been missed used by our loved schemes before

Now this

5f700f5468fd6
5f70199c56061

First thing the came to mind is to read carefully, because in this digital age, we are not reading anymore nor taking our time to understand or ask questions but only want to tick "I agree" and move on

My Thoughts

  • .... Research, Statistics and Promotional activities

Is NYSC now Facebook or Google, and why promotions for a data I must give you, even Facebook and Google is optional.

  • And why should there third party processors have access to my data, can't it all be managed in house?

  • And my last thought is, nice that they gives access to withdraw consent of data, but why? (don't forget this data includes Serving corp members and Ex corp members)

Maybe because they want to start selling the data or running promotions with it
Why I am asking this, like I said earlier is that many will not see this and will not be able to withdraw there data usage, because I am sure this usage warning is not for NYSC normal mobilization and the likes usage, if so they will not have been giving out withdrawal form

In conclusion

At the moment, if you click do not agree, you will be logged out and if you log in, you will be re asked again. No form whatever. It makes me think;
Is it by force?
Why should anyone especially ex corp members want to accept this?
Is NYSC looking for other sources of revenue?

DON'T ACT AS IF YOU DON'T CARE, THAT WILL BE A GREAT IGNORANCE AS OUR DATA USAGE IS IMPORTANT AND THE NEW CURRENCY THIS AFFECT SERVING AND ALL THE EX CORP MEMBERS

If you are yet to be following our series exploring NYSC privacy policy and Corper data usage Join me and other here the largest corpers group, click and we will make sure will simplify the all this there existing data policy and even the correction policy

Let us start discussing an important series, that many don't bother about.

NYSC and my Data

In this introduction, I will show you a sample of missed use of corpers data with the management. We are in an ICT era where our digital print, records and information is very powerful and important. Can you just imagine how much NYSC know about you as a registered corp member

Datapoint on;

  • Your next of kin details,
  • fingerprints,
  • blood group,
  • health condition
  • and even academic records.

Imagine all that exposed to the wrong hand. That is a whole lot of data point on each graduate in the country to be sincere that is so much.

In this series, we want to know what is done by the scheme. like you must know NYSC ICT does not operate the collection of data alone, as they partner and work with alot of companies specifically about 4 (four) of them with Sidmach the lead of them, if you not read our report of this

Example of such data misuse

5f6918c3169fd

In the sample above, not only was the name right but the mobile number even the state of deployment, even as though this CM is a relocated member, this is only one but several sample some who have the corp members first and last name even with state code number.

Question
then simply question how much do this perpetrators know?
Definitively so much if not even corp member data

In conclusion

Out of numerous of such target scam, i am sure some will fall victim, even as data usage has not started been take so serious in our country. Stay tune on our channel even as we look into what laws are guiding NYSC on this and many more interesting things.

Stay Safe

Since the establishment of NYSC in May 1973, the scheme has only be completely disrupted once.

This post will not go deep into the education sector and how it has been affected or will recover.
Let us start by saying. This present disruption has we all know is not intentional and infact some countries has declared second lockdown which for us we don't hope for such

5f5ff9b51fadd

In this post we hightlight three major fears and what corp member or prospective corp member can do;

Let us see the massive effect of NYSC paused calendar;

  • No calendar; This calendar year has been quite unpredictable in many if not every sector, as even the tertiary education sector that feed the scheme as been paused

What you can do; If you are a corp member this is a good avenue to up your digital skills with the time and money coming in, the right education that you couldn't get in school should be the target. Moreover as the world after NYSC is more competitive than ever before now. You need to really stand out

  • Gap of batch and Vacancy; The time wasted already by the pandemic will create vacancy that will never be filled or regulated till another 2 years cycle. This will affect the amount of pressure on the scheme

What you can do; If you are a prospective corp member this might be a time not to go to NYSC so that you can have a better experience of the scheme, the worse is for some nearby batches who are not finding things to do already. The workforce vacancy will be more, and alot of pressure to measure up will be mounted. This will not allow adequate timing as NYSC might want to go for 2 (two) more round if given the opportunity

  • Election; This is my last fear to mention a few of the present condition of NYSC like I started with, I sincerely hope this will not worsting, NYSC has always been a game against time. With Nigeria not having enough corp member in service i hope there wouldn't be pressure on corp member during any coming election. With Nigeria depending on them for electioneering process

What you can do; I will not give my last advise of waiting to the next year, because that concern more of PCM, but election is corpers responsibility. One thing i will say is always been able to measure the cost of the experience and be careful. As the offer for electoral officiers might be more juicy especially to entice more working force. Note it will still be your choice and choose well

Note: All what is written here are only my thought, observation and opinion and it is written so that you will read and evaluate it. Let us meet and here what you think on our group on Telegram

Today let us see what the NYSC Act says about calling up of members?

Who can be called up?

And failure to accept the national calling?

Any person who fails to report for service in the service corps as directed in the Call-up Letter and/or refuses to make himself available for service in the service corps shall be prosecuted in line with the provisions of Section 13 sub-section 19(a)and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004

Also, any person who is not eligible to participate in the service corps or has been duly issued with a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption but so participates or attempts to so participate shall be prosecuted in line with Section 13 sub-section 2(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap, N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004

When will NYSC Resume?; Answered, even with screenshot

The national youth scheme NYSC management has been holding on the opinion that they are waiting to receive approval/go ahead from the presidential task force (PTF) to begin resumption of its activities.

Even as some workplaces have started resuming the chain of command are already giving the nodding of NYSC full activities soon.

As you may know this activities we begin with the continuous of the orientation course, which was suspended in which the relocated members have been told to resume to their new state camp.

This Year National Youth Service Corps Members (NYSC) has been but experienced a great disrupt in the way it has ever been done.

What scheme having the longest registration ever for a stream. Spanning from February to Now

The question is now will this continue or stop?

Today let us see three(3) possible scenarios that can happen

5f4d63da9d93c

  1. Another unpronounced One week extension. I this might likely happen because NYSC activities are yet to obviously be resuming anytime soon

  2. Put an end to the registration: what is the essence of registration if people are no longer using it, I think with the number of new registration and no new institutional mobilization the registration should come to an end for good.

  3. Lack of updates: this likewise should not surprise anyone as by September. It can still be there for registration to end a day prior without actually really closing it.

In conclusion, all this suggestions above are based on my opinion and experience with the scheme in the past. Neither of the prediction might occur and feel free to say what you think about this lact of activities on

Thanks

Let us see a little about the foundation

"
A non-governmental organization, NYSC Foundation has called on Nigerian youths to brace up and embrace leadership roles for greater societal impact.

The foundation also indicated its readiness to partner with government to ensuring the training and retraining for key leadership positions.

In a statement in Abuja, the Executive Secretary, NYSC Foundation, Barr. Ventim Bako, said NYSC Foundation which he described as a non-profit organisation founded in 1999 by ex-corps members in collaboration with the management of NYSC Scheme supports graduate to be self independent and reliant.

He said, “On this special occasion of 2020 International Youth Day themed “Youth Engagement for Global Action”, it affords the NYSC foundation the gratifying opportunity to celebrate with the youth all over the world and to charge them to stand up and be counted.

“It highlights the importance and value of young people’s contributions and draws lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics and governance can be significantly enhanced. This underscores that meaningful youth engagement ensures that young people are equal and valuable partners, not only beneficiaries.

“As an alumni and umbrella body that unifies all ex-corps and serving corps members, the interest and representation of the youth comes first and it’s our ultimate priority. In view of this foregoing, the Foundation is planning to launch a project tagged “Youth First” which is expected to put the youth at the fore front and give young people a place at the table.

“The Foundation want to use this opportunity to commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for approving the N75 billion Youth Investment Fund. This is a welcome development and the first of its kind. We congratulate the Hon. Minister for achieving this great feat. This Foundation is very much willing to partner with the Ministry in the implementation of this Scheme and would appreciate the inclusion of the Foundation as one of the participating bodies for the Youth Investment Fund.

“NYSC Foundation also want to use this occasion to appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to consider reopening of NYSC Orientation camps for new corps members for proper training and national orientation before deploying them to places of primary assignment but provided all the protocols on covid-19 are put in place by the NYSC Management.”

Application letters/ cover letters

Ideally, application letters should be no more than 1.5 page in length. When organizing your application letter, adjust marginal spacing on the top and bottom of the page so the margins will appear equal to one another when the letter is sent in the mail. For additional spacing adjustments, modify the lines between the date and name in the section containing the address of your potential employer.

Contact Information

Provide your street address. Create a new line beginning with the name of your city followed by a comma. State names can be written out fully or you can use abbreviations instead. Stay consistent with your choice throughout the entirety of the letter, do not switch back and forth from spelling out state names to using abbreviations. Provide your email address in a new line. In the following line give your phone number with the area code first. Double space and fill in the current date. Double space again and write the name of your recipient ideally beginning with "Ms." or "Mr." if you know the gender of the recipient followed by his or her first name, middle initial, and last name. Create a new line detailing the recipient's title. In the next line write the name of the company. Complete this section by formatting the address of the company how you formatted your address previously.

Opening

Enter a salutation to greet your recipient by writing "Dear Mr. or Ms." then fill in their last name followed by a colon. In a new line write what position the letter pertains to, providing the location of the position and the name of the company the position is with. In the opening paragraph explain your reasons for professional and personal interest in the position and the company. Include details of referrals to the position or describe where you found the position listed. Write about educational degrees held and your college graduation date or dates.

Main Body

In the midsection of the application letter explain your level of experience in the field. Give strong examples of your professional skills in action by describing demonstrative situations that required the application or utilization of your most desirable skills. Before you submit the letter, write out a list of these examples. Withhold some of the top examples for inclusion in follow up letters if applicable.

Closing

Choose a closing style that is reflective of your personality. Convey an active tone and show initiative by politely stating a date that you intend to follow up with the potential employer regarding your status in the application process. If you decide to select a passive tone instead, simply request that the potential employer contact you if he requires more details or information. Thank your reader for his time and consideration. Double space and complete the application letter by writing "Sincerely" followed by a comma. Double space again and type your name. Type the word "Enclosure" as a new line and sign your name in the blank space between the word "Sincerely" and your typed name.

NYSC Revolution video

When Corp member saw Special Announcement they might be happy, and thinking something very positive But this;

A video posted 7 hours earlier have make NYSC (National Youth Service Corp) to officially comment, this could even led to a more popularity

The video was posted by a corp member name Sanusi Emmanuel Abiodun which was a serving corp member in Imo state as stated by him and must have been confirmed the scheme post

Early comment might for NYSC to disassociate herself from the video which calls for a revolution of things

This is the Sanusi Emmanuel Abiodun video that make NYSC to be Afraid wait and watch the video

Some have said this action is as a result of NYSC Batch A been half baked in camp.
But I see it as when you have a lot of free time, you just have to do something plus it looks planned and organised toward the sowore campaign.

Whatever you think about the video let us talk on Telegram, (a secure platform) search or click @nyscgroup to join others or just drop your comment below

With NYSC fully running, Government 33k Allawee is not enough, with COVID 19 no extra was now coming in from PPA and there is even nothing to do. That is while we compile what you can do or plan/train for into your service year.

Alot of PPA will/might not even pay corpers after resumption as they will want to settle themselves or main staffs first. so this business can be of help as they require no full time, little money and no certificate

Here comes the question, How to generate extra cash as a corp member?

10 CORPERS SIDE HUSTLE BUSINESS DURING SERVICE YEAR

1. Online Tutoring

This is one of the easiest businesses you can start, Even during this pandemic . You can first start it on WhatsApp, Facebook then extend it to a webinar. There may be a bit competitive in some locality and where that exists, you must try to show some level of expertise. Many parents will be more willing to pay for children home tutoring especially with the WAEC date set.

2. Social Media Manager

Covid 19 has lead alot of business to start embarrassing digital presence and solution for their daily operation, therefore lies a huge opportunity in this space. For corpers, you don't really need to take any class for this as many of it you will figure it out and you can easy learn on the job. This may include copywriting, ad setup and content creation

3. Personal Branding/Influencer

Just like the second point just that this can take a long time before you start making money from it, but on the long run worth it and it is something you can do during your service year, by exploring area, vloging about your travels. Blogging about your new environment and many more

4. Electronic Repairs

During this pandemic the use of internet enabled devices has surged up, as NYSC 2020 batch A corp member, this is a skills that you can use to make some extra money among other corpers, CDS group and even among the hosting community

5. Game TV or life fitness centre

Another way to make some extra bulks in a fun way is to setup a TV station in your area, especially if it is World Cup era. If not alot of people watch weekend games regular league and champions league. (Don't forget to tell your audience to come with their nose mask, if you are planning this). And if you are the game type, you can open a game and fit centre. There are different games you can start like; PS station, table tennis, weight lift, chess game in addition to personal fitness exercise room. This is usually lucrative if you are posted to the city for your primary assignment.

6. Blogging

We talked a little about this early but it is alot on its own and can even include other online business like affiliate marketing apart from ad revenue. This is what you can do in your spare time or at leisure, in as much as there is availability of internet connection and you have your own laptop or phone.

7. Freelancing

This include doing simple digital task for someone else or company all online. As a corp member looking to make extra cash, this is a good area of focus. Has you can be paid in dollars by during this task which usually involves your skills. Platform that offer this include upwork, fiverr, freelancer and even some Nigerian Site

8. Graphic Design

We are now going slightly technical, this skills can be forced to make you money every time, you can design for your PPA. If you are so creative you can even draw your boss and he/she will pay if he/she values art work. But most importantly you can make money from teaching others in your CDS or if you are serving in a school your pupil, or you can design certificate and many more for CDS groups.

9. SEO expert

Like i said we are going a bit technical but you know the more your skills is hard to find the more the pay, so another side hustle for corp member especially with pandemic and increase in small business website is to consult for business to make their keyword searchable and ranking well.

10. Web/App Developer

Lastly but to be honest if your PPA is a good school some parent can pay you more than your entire 12 month allowance to teach their kids this skill. You can also build a project for your PPA or LGA in which when the value is so felt you will surly be rewarded financially or otherwise

Other Business as corp member incudes;

  • Hairstylist

  • Beads knitting and selling

  • Cloth designing and tailoring

  • Shoe making

  • Cooking/Baking

  • Shoe making/deodorant

  • Nose mask making

This businesses here will best suit female corp member but I have male corp member making money as hairstylist and especially shoe making

  • Trading

Trade is also another common business for NYSC corp member. I just the not include on the main list because the pandemic have make a lot of corper at their home. But most corp members posted to North buy product there and send to east for selling.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR SUCCESS

There are some factors that will likely affect your overall success in any of the above business idea. These factors include;
• The locality/state where you are posted for NYSC
• Your business orientation
• Passion
• Dedication
• Hard work
• Capital
• Skills

So, try as much as to factor in these factors when thinking of business to do during NYSC. As I have already said, you don’t to wait until you pass out from NYSC before you start up a business. That one year NYSC period is the best time to start a side hustle and small. As a corp member you are favored as you will receive a lot of support from the community

We usually share some rare opportunities on this platform sometime, in which you might need to write an essay to win something, that can setting you up during and after NYSC. So I will advice you join

What is job-hopping and
How it can affect career success

Job-hopping is simply the practice of moving from job to job or in my words jumping around from one offer to another

It might look reasonable with a surface look but can you imagine going to different universities before graduating a course or better still having changing course of study every session.

You know it wouldn't be nice on the success, such also for early career man and women.
5f0df4b747284

CAREER EFFECT OF JOB-HOPPING

What is the effect of one on the other? How long is too long for staying in a company?
I must admit, the resumes that pass by my desk makes me conclude that job-hopping is far too common in many early career.

Job hoppers do it for various reasons. Not just better offer, sometime in rift and many other reasons. More often than not they may not know what they are getting into.
Often times it is because they do not know what they want and hence are not ready for the challenges that lay ahead of them. Job-hopping can have great effect on career success especially for in an early career stage, with not much previous track record and achievements.

Consider this, what signals are you sending to your potential employer if you job-hop TOO OFTEN?

THE TWO-YEAR RULE
I have a two-year rule that I tell my staff and potential employees. The two-year rule is this – you must be willing to commit mentally to spend at least two years in the company before you quit. The reason is this; you need to deal with the learning curve. If you job-hop too often, you learn nothing substantial.

For me, it takes you at least a year to know the ins and outs of the company. Then another year before you can eventually be truly productive in adding value to the company. To see the true results of your contribution to the company, for me it takes at least two years. So, if you are prone to job-hopping and career success is on your mind, then it is time to rethink.

TRAINING YOU
Many well-established companies have training programs. They are willing to invest in fresh graduates and newbies. However, in order for them to make that decision they need to look at past track records.
Ask yourself, if you are a manager – who are you more likely to invest training time and money on?
Someone who is job-hopper and shows tendency to job-hop or
someone who is stable?

Companies are more likely to invest in people who are stable. The reason is simple. They are able to contribute back into the company. Everybody wins. If you are constantly job-hopping, you send a signal that you are not ready to commit.

Companies like to invest in people who see their career goals align with their corporate goals. Job-hoppers usually cannot see their career path beyond the next year or better offer.

HOW TO REDUCE JOB-HOPPING
One of the best ways to quit job-hopping is to truly know what you want. Once you know that, you will have singular focus in the pursuit of your career goals. Of course, it is understandable that as a fresh graduate or newbie at work it is tough to know that. You may be interested in some other industries.

If there are other fields that you are interested in then make a plan to find out about them. Start with the Internet, and then ask friends who may know people in those fields. Speak to them; ask them about the expectations of the company and the role of the position you are interested in.

You may not have all the answers but at least you get some idea. That would decrease the chances of you job-hopping. That is how you can right position yourself not to come to a point of doing what you don't love.
5f0df4f9c976c

MAKE LEARNING A KEY OBJECTIVE NOT MONEY
If you are new in the work force and have been job-hopping quite a bit, my advice to you is this - truly find out what you want. Once you know that, find a company that is willing to train or how they are willing to commit to their employees’ career in the long term. If they have structured training programs, join them.

Make learning the relevant skills and knowledge in that industry your key objective. The skills and knowledge that you learn will contribute to your career success in the long term. It is something that you can bring with you the rest of your life. Once you see the benefits of committing to a company who is willing to train you for more than two years, hopefully you won’t be job-hopping often anymore.

As We Conclude Always Leave Your Employer On Good Terms and Save Yourself Headaches Despite The Stage of The Company A Startup or Large Organisation

In Summary:
Use an exit interview as a tool instead of a personal gripe session.

The exit interview is not a time to burn bridges with your old company. It has become a very common ritual and the idea behind it is to find out from departing staff members, when they no longer have to worry about protecting jobs, exactly what things the company can improve upon.

The interview is designed to be a tool for making a company more efficient and a better place to work. However, many employees who are leaving an organization use this as a time to vent frustrations they may have felt. They see it as a personal gripe session, and loose inhibitions, sometimes venting personal ad homonym attacks against co-workers, and especially against former supervisors and bosses. This is never a wise idea.

Dale Carnegie and other personal growth gurus have told business people for many years that it is never good to burn bridges and offend someone when you could just as easily avoid it. It comes down to the old saying, “you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Keep that saying in mind before the exit interview.

Remember that if you make personal attacks they will be seen as such by the people who read the interview report. If you have genuine suggestions for improvement, your case could be weakened by making personal attacks. You don’t really gain anything from attacking or bad mouthing the people you used to work with or work for anyway, and you may regret saying something in anger later on when you are thinking more clearly.

Use the interview as a constructive tool, with good intentions. The company you used to work for did, after all, provide you with a way of making a living for the time you spent with them. Granted, you provided services to them that they needed. And, they paid you a salary or wages. Hopefully it was a fair exchange. If you have honest concerns, then the interview can be constructive.

For example, one reporter for a local weekly newspaper stressed that the computers being used were old and out of date, and that the firewall software used was ineffective. The system had suffered attacks of computer viruses in the past, and it was obvious to the reporter that the managing editor was not computer literate enough to understand how to fix the problem. The reporter knew that the publisher and the business manager would both read the exit interview report, so she carefully and diplomatically worded her comments, showing that buying new computers and new software would save the newspaper money in the long run.

By wording it carefully during her exit interview she got her ideas across to the appropriate people, and they took her comments seriously because she had nothing to gain and nothing to lose, and seemed to be reporting this situation for the good of the newspaper and staff. In this manner the exit interview benefited everyone involved.

Be careful about kicking the door, it might come back to hurt you.

I have seen employees leave their employers and got re-hired again after a while, so close the door well so that you might enter through it again if need be

Cc E Thanks.

A member of the House of Representatives, Zakariya Dauda Nyampa, has advocated for fresh graduates to be enlisted into the army.

Nyampa who represents representing Michika/Madagali constituency of Adamawa state, said the military service should replace the mandatory one-year National Youth Services Corps (NYSC).

He said graduates who do not have the interest to serve as military personnel should be allowed to venture into other endeavours after the mandatory one-year training and service in the Nigerian army.

What do you think about this guys.

Imagine the development in NYSC from the early 70's, things that make me think;

This is how the first Passing out Parade looks like.
Knowing that NYSC started a year before.

I can't imagine the people's training, drilling.
As even the soldiers seem to match funnily

I can't also imagine the kind of opportunity this graduate will have
Looking at how few then are, maybe automatic employment

The Uniform seem to me, not same all through, in colour
especially the pants

I wonder what is people's ages might be looking at there faces
Hardly will there be pcm in there 20's in this set

At the end it is wonderful to look back in history and have a glimpse in development that have happened in the scheme of the national youth service corps

We all know that the world is changing and digital systems is not the new norms, so as NYSC Batch A is preparing back to camp (according to NYSC DG) and stream 2 preparing for call up and even for ex corp members.

Video screening and interview is not a norm and certain ethic have to be followed to have a success in this.

This post is all about the must do in a video conference interview and standard one on one job interview.

If you have a video conference job interview, the same rules apply as a standard job interview. This includes:

1. Dress for success – Wear what you would for a normal job interview for a corp member khaki will not be bad. Either way make sure you are smart, presentable, business attire.

2. Be prepared for the interview – Learn a little about the company, the industry, have your interview answers ready to showcase how you can serve them, what you can do, and have suitable questions to ask.

3. Bring evidence of achievements/qualifications if you have it – If sales increased by 10% or efficiency increased by 5% and you have the documents to show this, have it with you. Also, have digital versions of this which you can share with the interview panel should you be asked.

For a video job interview, there are a few extra aspects to take on board, such as:

4. Practice looking at the camera – When we use Zoom and the like we naturally look at the person speaking. Try and practice looking at the camera as this will mimic eye contact that you would naturally do in a job interview.

5. Keep the background neutral – Try and position yourself where the camera shows only a blank wall. This will keep the focus of the interview panel on you.

6. Make extra sure you will not be disturbed – The last thing you want is to have to leave the interview to sort out an ‘emergency’.

Video conferencing is not the same as face to meetings or job interviews, but with a little preparation, you can make them easier to manage. More productive, and less disruptive.

Wishing luck in your interviews,

Today we want to talk about the right way to follow up on a job interview let us start by answering these questions:

Can I follow up on a job interview?

This looks simple, like a yes or no question but it is more than that, because it actually depends on the circumstances.

Let us start like this;

You finish NYSC and you applied, you are called for interview but remember you might not be the only one called. Let go on with the positive story which we expect the circumstances to be

So you’ve finished the job interview for your dream job (or, at least a great job) and as far as you’re concerned, you nailed the job interview! It’s only a matter of time before they call you with an offer, right?

But after a couple of weeks pass without a peep, you start to get that sinking feeling… perhaps the job interview wasn’t the slam-dunk you hoped for. At this point, you may feel that the best decision is to cut your losses and move on. But before you put that job interview in the past, be sure to follow-up with the employer.

The job interview is only the beginning of the conversation. While you certainly don’t want to come off as annoying, you want to stay on the employer’s radar.

5ee644f214f14
How to go about this followup?

Let us see 3 (three) way you can go about this. Here is the right way to follow-up on a job interview, without being a pest

1. Write a Thank You Note

After your job interview, the first follow-up should be a thank you note; preferably a handwritten letter sent through the mail, which is more likely to be read, but an email on time is better than nothing. You should always send a note to every person you interviewed with, no later than 24 hours after the interview. Keep these things in mind in your note:

Be brief, friendly, and conversational. You’ve already had the job interview, so let your gratitude and personality show a little bit.

NOTE: Restate your interest in the job and any relevant details on why you’re qualified.

Thank the potential employer for their time as job interviews can require employers to set aside a lot of time, often forcing them to push off work.

The thank you note is also an excellent opportunity to add any significant information you may have forgotten to say in the interview.

Example of this thank you note:

Hi [Interviewer Name],

Thank you so much for meeting with me today. After learning more about the position, I’m very excited for the opportunity to join your team and help [create world-class marketing campaigns, inspire prospective clients, increase revenue, etc.] for [Company Name].

I know my years of experience of working on [web development, copywriting, sales, etc.] would greatly benefit your company.

Please keep me posted on the status of the hiring process. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Warm regards,

Your Name]

Also note that

If you’re really ambitious and are feeling good about the job interview, you might even try to impress the employer and include an idea that could add value to their company in your follow-up.

For example, you could add a suggestion that looks like this in your follow-up and thank you email:

“Our discussion about [A, B, and C] gave me an idea. Has your team considered trying [X, Y, and Z]? I found it to be an effective process in my last job.”

Make it easy on them by reminding them why you deserve the job.

2. Check-In

Sending a thank you note after an interview is the easy part of following up. Making contact again after a few weeks of silence can feel more difficult. You might worry that checking in will make you seem annoying, or worse, desperate. But not to worry! This follow-up is a regular and professional part of the process. If you approach your follow-up carefully, you can come off as a diligent and interested.

NOTE: Here are some tips to keep in mind when you follow up:

  • Don’t jump to the conclusion that you didn’t get the job. Sometimes the hiring process can take a while to settle, especially if the decision-makers have a lot on their plate.

  • Wait for the established timeframe and deadlines to pass. If you ended your job interview by asking about the next steps of the hiring process and when you should expect to hear back, then stick to that timeline. If that date has passed, then feel free to send a follow-up note by email to the employer.

Example of a check-in note

When sending a note after the discussed timeframe has passed, here is sample language of a post-interview check-in note:

“Hi Jane, I hope all’s well! You mentioned that you would be finalizing your decision for the IT position by this week. I’m eager to hear when you have an update. Please let me know if there’s anything I can provide to assist you in your decision-making process.”

3. Stay in Touch

Even if you don’t get the job, it might be useful to have this employer in your network. This can take some finesse. Rather than seeing your relationship with the employer as a failed job interview and lost opportunity, treat them as a valuable new colleague and contact.

Build a relationship. This means keeping the conversation going by periodically sending articles or information that might be relevant to them, congratulating them on recent accomplishments, and thanking them for their replies.

Do the research, and if appropriate, add the recruiter or employees you spoke with on LinkedIn.

Also, be sure to follow up and update your LinkedIn interests and be sure to follow their company page on LinkedIn.

But remember, don’t overdo it! Be cognizant of whether you’re being helpful or a nuisance and always be genuine.

The key is to remain professional, proactive, and useful, not pushy or over-eager.

If you find this valuable you can join our community of life after NYSC members on Telegram
